New Ways Health & Nutrition Projects
We fund the running costs and maintenance of 26 nutritional rehabilitation centres for children aged 2 – 5 years old. The focus of these centres is to provide each child with nutrition, clean water and an opportunity for them to learn basic skills. More recently we have embarked on an agricultural programme to ensure every NRC will eventually be able to grow some food for its own use.
Health projects
A vital aspect of the work of our partner organisation is the ongoing provision of key health services in Turkana, not currently provided by the local government. We support three projects in Turkana and Malawi, the primary project being the Nariokotome Health Programme, where we cover the running costs of medical aid delivered to the remote villages and outstations on a regular basis. The Kenyan government partners with us to provide vaccines and retro viral drugs. Malaria remains the biggest issue for the local people especially in the rainy season. In addition, we support a similar programme in the mountainous Lobur area of Turkana. We also fund a project in Malawi aimed at supporting those living with Albinism.

Child nurseries for education and nutrition
New Ways’ education programmes support children all the way from nursery to further education, with our nursery schools providing a strong foundation. The nurseries aim to provide both an education and improved nutrition, providing students with meals to improve their wellbeing and also their knowledge about nutrition in the wider community. Meals are provided as well as education about agriculture as a means of providing food security. Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand and the projects we support develop both.
