Many readers will know Stuart Garner, who has been a director of New Ways for many years and a key part of the team since 1994. When he and Catherine married recently, they decided to help further – as they explain below. As a result, a huge vote of thanks from all the team in London and Kenya is added to our congratulations and hopes that Stuart and Catherine enjoy many happy years together.

“When we married in May, we already had everything we needed for our home, so rather than having a traditional wedding gift registry, we wanted to do something that felt more meaningful to us.
Our wedding was an incredibly joyful occasion, but we were also very conscious of those we dearly wished could have been there – our parents and Catherine’s brother, Ian. Helping young people get a great start in life through education felt like a lovely way of recognising their absence while sharing the joy of our marriage.
New Ways was a natural choice. Stuart has been involved with the charity for over 30 years and has been a trustee for 20 years, his parents were longstanding supporters, and he has personally visited its projects in Africa. Catherine’s parents were both educators, and we know they, and Ian, would have loved the cause.
Our guests embraced the idea wonderfully and, together, we have raised over £13,500 to date for education in Turkana. We’re so excited to visit the schools and other projects ourselves in September as part of our honeymoon.”
